Role Overview
The General Assistant supports cooks and chefs in food production, operates the cash register, serves meals, and maintains cleanliness in the canteen and kitchen. This position is part of the Fedics business unit.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow company and statutory regulations for cleanliness and hygiene.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, health and safety, and food quality.
- Assist in preparing meals, especially salads and desserts.
- Place entrees, salads, desserts and other items on the serving line.
- Keep the serving line stocked and clean at all times.
- Help train new employees when required.
- Record and store food leftovers safely.
- Ensure canteen tables, kitchen areas and other workspaces are tidy and orderly.
- Meet customer expectations as defined in the contract.
- Provide excellent customer service within your area of responsibility.
- Count and hand over stock to the next shift as needed.
- Carry out reasonable requests from management.
- Report and, where possible, resolve customer or client complaints and acknowledge compliments.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform any related duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Completed at least a National Senior Certificate.
