Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated individual to manage Traffic Prosecutions across all regions. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of all applicable legislation, effective communication skills, and the ability to support the legal team in implementing key changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Traffic Prosecution Management: Responsible for managing the Traffic Prosecutions process across various regions, including keeping all legislation up-to-date and ensuring that any amendments are promptly communicated to Commanding Officers for implementation.
  • Fines System Maintenance: Ensure the continuous update of the fines system to reflect current legislation and ensure its accuracy.
  • Legislative Awareness: Remain informed of any statutory changes that may impact the department. Track the implementation dates of amendments and make sure they are adhered to in a timely manner.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all legal requirements in line with current legislation are followed, and facilitate corrective measures for any instances of non-compliance.
  • Communication and Coordination: Work closely with Regional Commanders to communicate changes to the legislation and provide accurate statutory references and offence descriptions to facilitate smooth implementation.
  • Admission of Guilt: Prepare applications for the determination of Admission of Guilt fine amounts, ensuring the amounts align with new and existing legislation, and discuss these with the Chief Magistrate or relevant district Magistrates.
  • Support for Systems Controller: Assist the Systems Controller in identifying errors, inconsistencies, or inaccuracies in legal documents and charge sheets. Recommend corrective measures as needed.
  • Court and Legal Representations: Coordinate court representations and communicate with Department of Justice officials and internal management on legal issues and updates.
  • Internal Disciplinary Support: Support the internal handling of disciplinary and grievance matters, providing technical assistance to relevant stakeholders.

Essential Requirements:

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Administration or a related field.
  • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with relevant software systems.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Administration or a related field.
